Today is Valentine's Day but as I couldn't think of a puppet to represent Love, although now I come to write that word, I do have a photo of the 'Love Bug' puppet, a rare one, so will follow this post with another!I missed wishing everyone a Happy Chinese New Year, the year of the Monkey. The Monkey is a rarely found puppet dating from mid 1960's. Often thought to belong to the 1963 Peter Carter-Page designed range of dressed animals, sought after as a set to complete for collectors. The Monkey though doesn't have a label or tag and is not in this group. He has a great face with a felt fez hat with tassel. A wired tail has a little bell on the tip.One problem often found with this puppet is the loss of toes or fingers, the hands and feet are the same mould but they did break easily and this de values the puppet sadly. To replace the hand would mean completely re threading the components of the puppet, a tricky job to undertake.
